In order to ensure that the children cared for at Greenvale School are prepared to enter the public school system ready to learn, Greenvale School's teachers use regular assessment tools and screenings to gauge each child’s developmental progress and to identify any areas of need. The screenings administered include the Brigance Screening Instrument, regular health checks, vision and hearing screenings and further developmental assessments if a special need is detected.

Greenvale School works with other community service agencies in the Roanoke Valley, including Roanoke Valley Speech and Hearing Center to ensure that these important needs are met. If a need for speech therapy the therapists from these supporting organizations provide their services on site at Greenvale School in a comfortable, familiar setting for the child and with minimal disruption to their day and the parent’s work schedule.
