FACT:

· Each day, 400 children under the age of 14 are too sick to attend school or child care in the Roanoke Valley.

· The average child contracts 6 to 9 colds/viral illnesses each year.

· Each illness lasts 3 to 7 days.

· Working mothers miss between 5 and 29 days each year to care for sick children.

The Get Well Center at Greenvale School is especially designed for working parents on those “runny-nose” or “yucky tummy” days that children often have. So often, the concern for your child is swiftly followed by the awful realization that you just can’t miss a day of work: an important project, an out-of-town business trip, you've run out of sick days... the complications are endless. If your child has an illness that prevents him/her from attending his regular child care or school, you can bring your child to the Get Well Center.

Use of the Get Well Center is not limited to students in Greenvale School’s well-child care classrooms, and is open to any family in the Roanoke Valley in need of a sick child care option. Registration is required prior to using the center to ensure that the nursing staff has all the necessary medical information to properly care for your child. The Get Well Center provides a warm, comfortable environment filled with appropriate toys, books, games, children's videos, and rest areas that make getting better a less stressful experience.

The center is staffed by a licensed nurse. A volunteer pediatrician from Physicians to Children also consults with the nursing staff, and provides free physicals to needy families on-site and is available in case of any concern or emergency.

The Get Well Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for children 6 weeks through 12 years of age.

Peace of mind costs only a small annual registration fee ($25). The daily cost for your child to receive care in The Get Well Center is $20, but may cost much less for children who are enrolled at Greenvale School.   Let The Get Well Center at Greenvale School become your family’s reliable plan when your child is mildly ill and you have to go to work.
