Baby Rockers spend quality time with infants, helping the staff provide essential one-on-one attention and physical contact. This close contact helps our youngest children feel the security and love they need in order to feel comfortable learning and exploring new things outside of their own homes.

Reading Buddies spend special time with pre-school children, work on emergent reading skills, and serve as positive role models.

Educational presentation volunteers help children learn about different hobbies, sports, and careers, helping fuel their imaginations while nurturing hopes and ambitions for future success.

Tutors play an important role in the Youth Connection’s before-and-after school program, assisting individual children with homework assignments

Maintenance volunteerstackle projects inside and outdoors, helping to ensure that the building and grounds are always ready to support the important learning experiences that happen daily. Tasks include raking leaves, washing windows, washing/waxing the school bus, tending the children’s Five Senses Garden, spreading mulch, and assembling new playground or classroom equipment.

VA State Championship Chili Cook-Off volunteers fill three-hour shifts: setting up, working the admission booths, selling sodas, souvenirs, chili and more. Over 100 volunteers are needed to staff the one-day event, which is the school’s signature fundraiser to support the Children’s Scholarship Fund.
